Automotive Fan — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
Automotive Fan ("the app") is a companion app that connects to independently operated vBulletin car-enthusiast forum communities (each a "Community," such as bmw.automotive-fan.com, tesla.automotive-fan.com, etc.). This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Who runs what
Automotive Fan is published by Digital Mayhem. Each Community you connect to is a separate, independently administered vBulletin forum. Your forum account, posts, private messages, and any content you create within a Community are stored and controlled by that Community's own forum, not by Digital Mayhem. This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer.
Information the app handles
- Forum account credentials. When you sign in to a Community, your username and password are sent directly to that Community's own vBulletin server to authenticate you, using vBulletin's standard API. Digital Mayhem does not operate a separate server that stores or has access to your forum password.
- Forum content. Threads, replies, articles, blog posts, group activity, private messages, notifications, and friend connections you view or create are retrieved from and sent to the Community's own server. Retention and visibility of this content is governed by that Community's own forum, not by this app.
- Purchases. Unlocking a Community is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Digital Mayhem does not receive or store your payment details — only Apple's standard purchase/entitlement confirmation is used to unlock the relevant Community in the app.
- Locally stored data. Your signed-in session for each Community is stored securely on your device (e.g., in the system keychain) so you don't have to log in every time. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to Digital Mayhem.
What the app does not do
- The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- The app does not sell or share your information with data brokers or advertisers.
- Digital Mayhem does not operate a central database of user accounts or forum content across Communities — each Community's data lives on that Community's own server.
Children's privacy
Automotive Fan is not directed at children, and account creation on each Community is handled by that Community's own forum, subject to its own terms and minimum age requirements.
Your choices
You can sign out of any Community at any time from within the app, which removes the locally stored session for that Community from your device. To manage or delete your forum account and its content, contact that Community's forum administrators directly, since that data is controlled by them, not by Digital Mayhem.
